Smart distribution groups based on Administrator Name not working

Problem:

Why are members of my smart distribution group based on the 'Administrator Name' info item not installing packages assigned to this group?

Solution:

Creating distribution groups in the Software Distribution and License Monitoring Centers based on the 'Administrator Name' information item is currently not supported. This would put a major load on the LANrev server for validation. This problem is further exacerbated if you have also appointed administrators via smart groups. This would cause the reevaluation of those distribution groups every time something changes in the agent information tables.

While the machines are listed correctly in your smart distribution group based on 'Administrator Name', members of this group would not actually receive the software packages assigned to them. This is because the query for the display of these machines in the smart group occurs on the admin console but the query for the actual software distribution occurs on the server. The LANrev server currently will not evaluate this query for the previously mentioned load reasons.

You should change your smart distribution groups not to use the 'Administrator Name' information item or create a standard distribution group that includes the same members as your smart distribution group.

LANrev Engineering is actively working to resolve this limitation in future versions of LANrev.
