ARD reports all passwords for its clients are invalid

Problem:

Why are all my ARD passwords invalid when I try to connect to Mac Agents using the Remote Control command?

Solution:

This can happen if you attempt to remote control a Mac Agent directly from the LANrev admin console when ARD is not already open. LANrev launches ARD but ARD reports that all passwords for its clients are invalid. If the ARD console is already open, the remote control session is successfully established.

This error message is caused by a problem in ARD 3.0 and has already been reported to Apple. Note that this behavior only occurs with copies of ARD registered with an expiring or NFR serial number and not retail serial numbers. The problem is caused by a delay in the AppleScript that launches the remote control connection because of the appearance of the ARD splash screen that occurs with expiring or NFR serial numbers. LANrev has attempted to work around this problem but it may not be effective in all cases. If you receive this error message, launch the ARD admin console before invoking the Remote Control command within LANrev and the remote control session will open without any problems.
