Updating Bonjour on Windows clients

Question:

When is the Bonjour Service updated on Windows clients?

Answer:

Due to limitations in the MSI engine, the Bonjour Core Service is updated to the current version (1.0.3) by the LANrev Agent 3.0 and higher only if both of the following conditions are met:

The LANrev 3.0 and higher Agent is upgraded manually using setup.exe with the InstallShield Wizard.
An old version of the Bonjour Core Service installed by a previous version of the LANrev Agent (1.0, 1.0.1, 1.5, or 2.0) is already present.

The Bonjour Core Service will not be updated if:

The Bonjour Service from Apple is installed on the computer. The LANrev Agent installer won't upgrade this version of the Bonjour Service.
The LANrev Agent is installed/updated using the LANrev Agent Deployment Center. In this case Bonjour Service is never updated.
The LANrev Agent is installed silently at the command line without a user interface:

msiexec.exe /i "LANrev Agent.msi" /qn
```

This is by design and results from a limitation in the MSI engine that does not allow you to launch additional MSI installer from within the first MSI installer.

If no Bonjour Service is installed on the computer then the Bonjour Core Service 1.0.3 is installed by the LANrev 3.0 and higher Agent installer, but only if the user selects it in the user interface of the InstallShield Wizard. Installing the LANrev Agent using the Agent Deployment Center will not install the Bonjour Core Service.
