Deploying installers built with VISE X 1.5 and below

Question:

How do I deploy software packaged with MindVision VISE X 1.5 and older in LANrev's Software Distribution Center?

Answer:

Due to a bug in MindVision VISE X 1.5 and below, the installer will hang, causing the installation to fail. This problem prevents the installer from being driven by Apple events, requiring you to force quit the installer because it won't close even after the installation is complete. To find out which version of VISE X was used to package your application, launch the application's installer and choose "About Installer" from its menu bar. This install will not work with the LANrev Software Distribution Center if the version of VISE X listed is 1.5 or lower.

Use the following instructions for deploying software packaged with VISE X 1.5 and older. Note that these steps are not required for applications packaged with VISE X 2.0 and higher because MindVision has fixed the problem in these subsequent releases. Two sublaunchers are provided below, one for VISE X installers that do not require authentication and one for VISE X installers that do require authentication.

1. Download this VISE X 1.5 Sublauncher for installers that do no not require authentication. If your installer requires authentication download this VISE X 1.5 Sublauncher with Authentication instead.
2. Create a new folder.
3. Put the installer for your application (e.g. Flash Player 8) and the VISE X 1.5 Sublauncher in the new folder you just created.
4. In the LANrev Software Distribution Center create a new software distribution package with the following options:
      - For the "Executable" select the appropriate VISE X 1.5 sublauncher from the folder you just created.
      - Check the "Transfer all files in folder containing executable" option.

Your software installation should now work correctly without hanging.
